"Wicked" will return to Playhouse Square Nov. 18 through Dec. 13 as part of the U.S. Bank Star Performance Series.
With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz ("Godspell," "Pippin," Academy Award-winner for "Pocahontas" and "The Prince of Egypt") and book by Winnie Holzman ("My So Called Life," "Once And Again" and "thirtysomething"), "Wicked" is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello ("Take Me Out," "Love! Valour! Compassion!," "The Vagina Monologues," and "9 to 5") and features musical staging by Tony® Award winner Wayne Cilento.
Based on the best-selling 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, "Wicked," winner of 20 major awards, including a Grammy® and three Tony® Awards, is the untold story of the witches of Oz.
"Wicked" will play in the State Theatre at Playhouse Square. Performances are Tuesday through Friday evenings at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2 and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 1 and 6:30 p.m. A special 2 p.m. matinee will be staged on Nov. 19. There will be no performances on Thanksgiving Day Nov. 26. Ticket prices range from $25 to $130, and are available through the Playhouse Square ticket office, 1519 Euclid Ave. in downtown Cleveland, online at playhousesquare.org or by calling 216-241-6000. Special evenings
The Playhouse Square Community Engagement & Education Department is hosting a special Teen Night following the Dec. 5 evening performance. Admission to Teen Night is free with a ticket from the show. Teens age 14 to 19 can enjoy pizza, a DJ, karaoke and an opportunity to meet members of the cast. Promotion code TEEN should be used when ordering tickets to the show.
Young professionals ages 21 to 35 are invited to the Dec. 4 show. The YP package includes valet parking at the Wyndham Hotel compliments of Lexus, pre-show cocktails in the Wyndham's Blue Bar, tickets to the performance of the blockbuster musical "Wicked" and an exclusive, limited-access post-show party, sponsored by Seagram's Escapes, with members of the cast in the Wyndham's Presidential Suite.
Prices range from $64.50 to $160 and will be available for purchase at the Playhouse Square ticket office (1519 Euclid Ave.), online at playhousesquare.org/partners or by calling 216-241-6000.
