Ten students from Asian Sun Martial Arts in Hudson competed at the 2009 Amateur Athletic Union Nationals in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The AAU Nationals draw thousands of competitors each year.

Stow resident Vinny Musci, 13, is a third-degree Black Belt who attends Hudson Montessori School.

Musci has been training at Asian Sun for six years. After a hard-fought match at a new age division, Musci earned a bronze medal, making this his first medal at Nationals.

"We are very proud of Vinny," Master Rob Weinert said. "We are confident he will be competitive next year with this experience and another year of maturation."

John Anderson of Stow is a Red Belt at Asian Sun Hudson.

He has been training with Asian Sun for three years and this was his first national competition.

Anderson easily beat his opponent to win Gold in the Adult Heavyweight Advanced Division.

"John will be a force in the future at Black Belt Heavyweight," Weinert said. "It's like no one can beat this guy."
