I congratulate those upper managers who have sacrificed a portion of their income during these difficult economic times. I believe these people are showing real leadership to their employees and the general public. For example, Dr. Nora of NEOUCOM donated a month's salary to her organization. Mr. Alexander, CEO, of First Energy, sacrificed more than $300,000 of his salary. The president of the University of Akron gave up his 3 percent raise as did the president, and nine vice presidents at Kent State University give up their raises. In view of the Obama administration's drive to reduce the cost and improve delivery of healthcare for all Americans, I wonder when (and if) I will read about upper management of major regional hospitals also demonstrating their leadership by sacrificing a portion of their salaries in the name of the hospitals they represent. Many of the executives at these hospitals receive salary in excess of $1 million per year, and it would be nice if we taxpayers could witness economic sacrifices on their part.
