Foote fares well

Western Reserve Academy graduate Jeff Foote recently completed his sophomore year with the Brown (R.I.) University men's lacrosse team.

The standout midfielder played 16 games and scored one goal and picked up three ground balls.

Edwards wins

Hudson resident Zac Edwards, a pitcher, helped the Lake Erie Bulldogs 16-and-under baseball team to three wins.

The Bulldogs scored a 2-1 victory over Premier Baseball June 16 at Olmsted Falls High School.

Edwards got the start on the mound and pitched five innings. He allowed four hits and finished with five strikeouts to pick up the win. Many of Edwards' high school teammates played for Premier.

In a 9-5 victory over the Ohio Orioles June 13 at Olmsted Falls, Edwards got the save when he entered the game in the seventh with the bases loaded.

He also recorded a save during the Bulldogs 4-3 win over the North Coast Vipers June 11 in Olmsted Falls.

Edwards pitched two scoreless innings in the sixth and seventh frames and allowed just one hit. He finished with three strikeouts.

As of press time, Edwards was 3-0 on the mound with two saves.

Seawolves host tryouts

The Stow Seawolves 12-and-under baseball team is scheduled to host tryouts for the 2010 spring season. The team seeks players who want to play competitive baseball. The Seawolves play teams from surrounding communities as well as participate in local tournaments.

The tryouts are set for July 11 and 12 at 4 p.m. at Silver Springs field No. 1. An additional tryout is scheduled July 18 and 19 at 4 p.m. at Silver Springs field No. 3. Players must be 12 years old or younger on April 30, 2010.

WRA offers hoops camp

Western Reserve Academy is scheduled to host a summer boys basketball day camp for boys entering grades four through nine July 26 through 31.

The camp is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Murdough Athletic Center.
