Responding to the June 7 letter expressing concern that herbicides and pesticides might be outlawed, of course we should have our chemicals, phthalates and phenols, carbamate and Coffee-Mate, but why would we want them on our lawns and greens when without them we invite such elegant and endearing guests? Dandelion, bugleweed, buttercup, phlox, Trout lily, violet, sweet forget-me-not, Indian paintbrush, Queen Ann's lace, and on and on and on. Forty-eight species in one Hudson lawn. I win!
