Hudson students, teachers and community leaders gathered at the Burton D. Morgan Foundation Feb. 27 to celebrate National Entrepreneurship Week.

The foundation hosted the gathering to bring together people and organizations from the community to discuss ways to strengthen Hudson's growing entrepreneurship network.

"In Hudson, we are fortunate we have a lot of people interested in entrepreneurship," Foundation President Deborah Hoover said as she welcomed guests to the luncheon. "This is really important work for the revitalization of our economy."

Representatives from Hudson Montessori School, Seton Catholic School, Hudson City Schools, Western Reserve Academy, Hudson Community First, the Hudson library and the Hudson economic growth board attended the session.

The participants agreed to exchange e-mail addresses so they could exchange ideas about entrepreneurship.

Hoover pointed out that because the economic downturn hit Northeast Ohio before much of the rest of the country, this area is ahead of others in the pursuit of entrepreneurship and job creation.

Northeast Ohio is considered a hotspot for youth entrepreneurship education, she said.

"In Hudson, we have so much going on already," she said. "We should build on that momentum."
