Evamere celebrates 50th anniversary

Evamere Elementary School will celebrate its 50th anniversary Oct. 23 at the school. Children will celebrate during the day, and, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. alumni, parents, former staff and community members will be invited to celebrate at the school.

Entertainment, food and a memorabilia display will be provided. City Arborist Tom Munn will present a tree to be planted to commemorate the event. Gift baskets will be raffled with all proceeds going to purchase a commemorative plaque or statue to mark this event.

The Evamere faculty is requesting help from former alumni and staff to create a historical display. Items will be carefully displayed and promptly returned to the owner after the event.

Evamere is looking for items such as photos, school programs or school materials. Label each item clearly and drop the items at the Evamere main office between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., or mail the items to 76 N. Hayden Parkway.

For more information, call the Evamere Elementary office, Barb Straka or Kathy Sandburg, at 330-653-1226.
