Hudson -- New to First & Main, the Yoga Lounge will be stretching the list of merchant offerings available at the downtown shopping destination.

Slated to open for business on July 7, the 2,567-square-foot business in Suite 207 at 89 First St. will offer a variety of classes and retail products.

Classes at the Yoga Lounge, "will be more of a physical exercise," said owner Amy Cook, who lives in West Akron and will be moving to Hudson in October. "Vinyasa," a form of yoga involving flowing movement, will be taught at the studio.

The latest exercise addition to First & Main leaves only 3,000 square feet of remaining space available for lease, according to Project Manager Regan Gettens.

Occupancy is at 100 percent for office spaces, said Gettens.

"We feel very fortunate to have that type of occupancy rate," he said.

With studio space for up to 50 people, 10 part-time certified instructors will lead classes offered at the Yoga Lounge, ranging from beginner to advanced. In addition to Cook, full-time yoga and marketing managers will run day-to-day operations.

Focusing on areas of breathing, balance, strength, meditation and flexibility, yoga is for everyone, said Cook.

It's the kind of exercise that allows people to clear their minds for a time, "kind of like if you cleaned out a junk drawer," she added.

Although the newest First & Main merchant has instructed professional athletes, said Cook, "We could take someone with a hip or knee replacement, and put them in a slower class ... We could help them."

Cook's first yoga business, the entrepreneur also has a physician recruiting business. She chose to open the studio at First & Main, because the environment was conducive to her long-term business and community goals, said Cook.

"I thought it was perfect ... We could work with the First & Main merchants to compliment what we are doing at the Yoga Lounge," she said.

The second-story facility will open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 6:15 a.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:15 a.m., with evening and weekend classes also available.

It's important to have hours that work for everyone in the community, said Cook.

"What we wanted to do ... was to have a gathering place," she said.

Class costs vary, with package, monthly or yearly pricing available. Grand opening pricing is being offered through July 11, ranging from $50 for five classes to $980 for a yearly pass.

A grand opening reception will be open to the public on July 11 from 6 to 9 p.m. Catered by Vue Restaurant, the event will feature appetizers, drinks and music.
