Parishioner ordained

St. Mary Church ordained parishioner Steve Flynn to the priesthood May 10 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Cleveland.

The Rev. Steve Flynn will celebrate his first Mass, a Mass of Thanksgiving, at 5:30 p.m. May 11.

Following Mass, a reception will be in the lower hall where all will have the opportunity to greet him and his family and receive a blessing.

He is the son of Jeannie and Bob Flynn of Hudson. His first priesthood assignment will be St. Rita Parish in Solon.

Episcopal Church Women meet May 15

The Episcopal Church Women's spring lunch and program will be May 15 at Laurel Lake Retirement Community, 200 Laurel Lake Drive, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Nancy Hall from the Sogestu school will present a program on Japanese flower arranging.

Lunch will be served at noon.

The lunch includes soup, chicken salad, muffin, beverage and a chocolate sundae and cookie for dessert.

Paid reservations of $10 per person should be received at Christ Church by May 11.

Checks should be payable to ECW and may be dropped off at the church office.

Laurel Lake residents may take the luncheon as their "meal of the day" at no extra cost or purchase a lunch for $10.

All residents are invited to attend the program at 1 p.m.

Mothers recognized
at service

Hope Community Church, 3033 Middleton Road, will commemorate Mother's Day with worship celebrations May 11 at 9:30 and 11 a.m.

Special recognition and gifts will be given to each mother present.

Christ Church celebrates with hymns

Christ Church Episcopal, 21 Aurora St., will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the installation of the Noack pipe organ with a hymn festival May 18 beginning at 4 p.m.

The festival will feature James E. Bobb, organist and choir director of the Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word in New York and the Paragon Brass Quintet, Ensemble-in-Residence, University of Akron.

All are invited and welcome to attend.

Congregational church plans Bible school

First Congregational Church of Hudson will host a Vacation Bible School program June 23 to 27 from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

The theme will be "Holy Moses." All children 3 years old to those in fifth grade are welcome to attend.

The Toddler 3s class will meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the Vacation Bible School week.

Gloria Dei plans
Bible school

Friendship Trek Vacation Bible School will be at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church June 16 through 20 from 9 a.m. to noon.

VBS includes crafts, games, Bible stories, snacks and music.

Vacation Bible School is for children age 3 who have completed a year of preschool through kids who have graduated fifth grade.

The cost is $10 per child and includes one music CD per family and Bible buddies for each participant.

Northampton Baptist Church hosts service

On May 18 at Northampton Baptist Church, Pastor John Hopson will begin a series of messages entitled, "What Would Jesus Say? -- A Series on the Parables of Christ."
