The Hudson softball team earned the sixth seed in the Akron district.

The Lady Explorers are scheduled to host Akron Kenmore in the opening round of Division I sectional play May 12 at 4:30 p.m.

Kenmore got the 12th seed. Cuyahoga Falls got the top seed and Twinsburg, Stow-Munroe Falls, Akron Ellet and Wadsworth got the next four seeds.

Hudson (9-7), the defending Division I state champion, earned a 5-3 victory over Falls in last year's district championship game.

It would be easy to think that the Lady Explorers aren't getting their just due when it comes to the seeding. They hammered Twinsburg 10-0 and won both games against Stow during the season.

But first-year head coach Frank Caraballo takes his team's seeding in stride.

"I don't pay any attention to that," he said. "You still have to play the game. You're going to have to face somebody good to get out of the district."

The Lady Explorers were scheduled to visit Northeast Ohio Conference River Division rival Falls May 5. Results were not available at press time.

They are set to host Falls May 7 at 4:30 p.m.

"We're getting better," Caraballo said. "We've seen some nice things happen defensively. We're a little bit inconsistent."
