by Lauren Krupar Associate Editor Hudson -- For approximately three days, Sarah Norman, director of Christian education at Hudson Presbyterian, will add three strangers to her home of six. Norman, her husband and four sons are preparing to welcome two children and their chaperone, all members of the Children of the World choir, who will perform locally during their stay. The Children of the World choir, an international children's choir, will perform at Hudson Presbyterian Church May 7 at 7 p.m. The evening concert will be followed by one at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy April 8 during the school's morning chapel service. The concert at Hudson Presbyterian is free and open to the public. A cookie and punch reception will follow the concert. Members of Hudson Presbyterian and CVCA partnered to bring the Children of the World choir, a ministry of World Help, to Hudson. World Help is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian organization involved in humanitarian aid, child sponsorships, Bible distribution and church planting. The May 7 evening performance is a first for Hudson Presbyterian Church. "I am very excited about this," Norman said. "It's a time for the community to come together for a really beautiful evening." The concerts will feature songs in English and the children's native languages, testimonies from the children, and videos describing the children's home countries -- mainly Uganda, India and the Philippines. The choir performing at Hudson is one of three Children of the World choirs. Singers range in age from 6 to 11 years old and stay with host families, such as the Normans, during their visits. The children also attend school directed by one of the choir's leaders and take field trips to area destinations. The 12-member choir arrived in Hudson April 6 and will leave April 9 for Dayton. Norman said she hopes the choir's stay in Hudson will be beneficial to the children and to the community. "When you think of it from a church perspective, we can point out many ways adults serve in worship, but not children," Norman said. "When you see children as young as 6 who have come so far to share their stories, it's amazing. It's a way to point out to young children that they can have a role."
