From April 21 through 25, officers from the Streetsboro and Hudson police departments partnered to undergo state of the art interactive simulator training sponsored by the Cuyahoga Community College Department of Public Safety. The PRISim force-on-force trainer is a full-featured judgment evaluation and force options training system. By design, it creates a safe, effective and realistic learning environment for law enforcement. The PRISim system places participants in an interactive environment, exposing officers to situations where mistakes have deadly consequences in real life. The simulator tests officers' responses to sudden fear, partial understanding, blindside surprise, eye-blink response and life-or-death choices. It is adaptable to a broad range of standard issue firearms and three levels of force options. The system provides scenario performance and debrief. The SimCommander driving simulator allows officers to practice critical decision making skills in a risk-free environment. The training environment is controlled with multiple scenarios such as traffic stops, pursuits, emergency response, changing weather, time of day and vehicle characteristics. Officers can practice vehicle handling skills including pit maneuvers, J-turns and emergency braking on a simulated skid pad. Comments
