Boychoir to perform at First Congregational

The Ohio Boychoir, under the musical direction of Dr. David Kienzle, will perform "Sing the Earth Green," an environmentally-themed concert, at First Congregational Church of Hudson, 47 Aurora St., May 4 at 4 p.m.

The program will present both sacred and secular choral music which will explore environmental themes and mankind's stewardship over the Earth.

The concert will include the debut of Cleveland composer Anne C. Wilson's new choral work "We Belong to the Earth," commissioned for the Ohio Boychoir for this concert series.

No admission will be charged. A free-will offering will be received.

Church plans groundbreaking

On May 4, Rejoice Lutheran Church will have a groundbreaking ceremony in anticipation of building a new church in Hudson.

The ceremony will take place on church property at 7855 Stow Road, just north of Middleton Road.

It will start at approximately noon.

After the church's 10:30 a.m. worship service, church members will proceed to the site. The church worships at Ellsworth Hill Elementary School at the corner of Stow and Middleton Roads, adjacent to the property.

Church will host Relay fundraiser May 6

St. John's Episcopal Church is hosting a Swiss steak dinner to benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life May 6 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Tickets may be purchased by calling Duane Scott at 330-688-6087 or Bill Fishel at 330-928-1739.

Adult tickets are $7, children ages 7 to 13 are $4, and children ages 6 and under are free. Hot dogs and macaroni and cheese will be available for children.

The church is at 2220 Second St. in Cuyahoga Falls. Parking is available in the municipal lot across from the church on Second Street.

Area churches
plan concert

Three Akron-area churches will combine choirs for a special "Celebrate Wesleyan Heritage" concert May 4 at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Master, 800 E. Market Street in Akron.

The Church of the Master choir will be joined by the Chancel Choir of Akron First United Methodist Church and the adult choir of the Stow United Methodist Church.

Ellen Ditrick, music director at the Church of the Master, will direct. Soloists from each of the three choirs will perform.

The concert will feature music by Samuel Sebastian Wesley, a 19th century composer.

Children's choir
comes to Hudson

Hudson Presbyterian Church and Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy will host the Children of the World Choir in Hudson for three days. The choir consists of 12 children, ages 8 to 10 from different countries around the world.

The children use the gift of music to raise awareness about the global population of children afflicted with AIDS.

The concert will be May 7 at 7 p.m. at the Hudson Presbyterian Church, 201 W. Streetsboro St.

A freewill offering will be collected to benefit children with AIDS during the concert. For more information about the concerts, contact Jennie Adams at the Hudson Presbyterian Church office at 330-650-1626.

Gloria Dei plans
Bible school

Friendship Trek Vacation Bible School will be at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church June 16 through 20 from 9 a.m. to noon. VBS includes crafts, games, Bible stories, snacks and music.

Vacation Bible School is for children age 3 who have completed a year of preschool through kids who have graduated fifth grade.

The cost is $10 per child and includes one music CD per family and Bible buddies for each participant.

Congregational church plans Bible school

First Congregational Church of Hudson will host a Vacation Bible School program June 23 to 27 from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

The theme will be "Holy Moses." All children 3 years old to those in fifth grade are welcome to attend.

The Toddler 3s class will meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the Vacation Bible School week.

Celebrate Recovery
at Hope Community

Hope Community Church, 3033 Middleton Road, is involved in "Celebrate Recovery," a Christ-centered group program to help people hurting. The program is designed to help free participants from addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. This program will meet each Friday at 7 p.m.
