Stow -- Women's health and fitness issues will be the focus of the next Stow-Munroe Falls Chamber of Commerce "Roundtable Breakfast."

The information-based breakfast will take place May 22 at LifeCenter Plus Health and Fitness Center in Stow.

Entitled "Women's Fitness Health for Every Age," the program will feature three of the center's fitness specialists.

The morning will kick off with a continental breakfast in LifeCenter's Gecko Cafe, followed by presentations regarding health and fitness needs throughout women's various life stages.

It's important to educate women regarding fitness and health, said Wendy Turrell, LifeCenter director of marketing and public relations, and Chamber health and wellness committee member.

"Women, in particular, have so many different issues," said Turrell. "Only women go through pregnancy. Only women go through menopause. Women's bodies are obviously different."

Following breakfast, certified fitness associate Vicki Munnings will discuss prenatal and post-partum fitness. Skeletal health, osteoporosis prevention and menopausal fitness will be addressed by Certified Personal Trainer Ruth Miller. Suzie Martin, certified group exercise and pilates instructor, will cover the benefits of pilates exercise.

All discussions will include interactive demonstrations, although no heavy exercising will be involved. The program also will include question and answer sessions. Attendees will be given a complimentary TheraBand, which is a stretch band for strengthening exercises.

There have been no Roundtable Breakfasts since 2005, according to Turrell, "but this is an idea we'd like to get started again. They're a good thing to have available for the community."

Turrell said having a program regarding women's health is a great way to re-boot the roundtables.

"We're excited to host this," she added.

"Women's Fitness Health for Every Age" is open to the public. Reservations are required by May 16, and the charge is $5. For more information or to make a reservation, call the Chamber at 330-688-1579.
