Wildlife rescuer
visits center

Wildlife rehabilitator Fran Kitchen will be at the Wild Bird Center, 130 W. Streetsboro St. in Hudson, from 1 to 3 p.m. May 3. She runs Operation Wildlife Rescue in Summit County and will bring wildlife with her.

Mom and daughter breakfast May 10

Nicky Nicole will host a mothers and daughters breakfast May 10 at 9:30 a.m. at The Vue in First & Main.

The event includes a meal, table favors, activities, fashion crafts, games, a parade of fashions by guests and a Nicky Nicole summer fashion preview.

Summa offers drawing

The Summa Wellness Institute will offer a drawing for four Nintendo Wii Game Systems. Anyone who takes a tour of the medically based fitness center in Hudson will be entered into the drawing.

The game systems will be given away May 3 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, call 330-342-4400.

Vue, Humane Society partner for fundraiser

Vue Restaurant will present the first annual Hudson Wine Festival to benefit the Humane Society of Greater Akron July 19 and 20.

The event will showcase more than 250 wines from national and international producers. There will be musical entertainment, international foods, cooking demonstrations, discussions on wine trends and various raffles throughout the weekend.

The Hudson Wine Festival will be July 19 from noon to 8 p.m. and July 20 from 1 to 6 p.m. along Village Way adjacent to Vue Restaurant and across from the Hudson library.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door and include 10 tastings and a souvenir wine glass. Additional tastings are 10 for $5 at the event.

A VIP event will be July 18 at 6 p.m. inside the Vue where guests will be treated to hors d'oeuvres from Chef Rick Carson and his staff, along with premium wine tastings and a silent auction.

Tickets are available for $100 and can be obtained through the Vue or HSGA.

Beer dinner
planned for April 30

The North End Wine and Beer Bar will host a beer dinner featuring the local Thirsty Dog Brewing Co., based in Akron, from 6 to 9 p.m. April 30. Tasting is by reservation only.

Featuring the cuisine of Chef Edward Conklin, each course will be paired with two of the many styles of beer brewed by Thirsty Dog.

Youth fitness
club offered

The Future Fitness Club is now offered at LifeCenter Plus, 5133 Darrow Road in Hudson. Funded by Kohl's Community Youth Fitness, by Akron Children's Hospital, this group weight management program is for children 8 to 13 years old.

The club meets Mondays and Wednesdays for eight weeks beginning May 5 from 6 to 7 p.m.

Participants learn healthy eating and fitness habits as they participate in games and other non-competitive activities, including obstacle courses, relay races, circuit strength/flexibility training, swimming and more.

The Future Fitness Club also is offered at the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium, the Shaw Jewish Community Center and the YMCA in Green.
