Gertrude J. "Jo" Miller, 98, of Stow died April 20, 2008. She was born April 25, 1909, in Scotia, N.Y., grew up in Newark, N.J., and raised her family in Hampton, Conn. She was married to George W. Miller for 36 years and was widowed for 40 years. She served as secretary of the Board of Education in Hampton, Conn. and volunteered for the Mayor's Telephone Assurance Program in Houston, Texas, and for the Portage Area Senior Services while living in Kent. She lived the past 11 years at Stow Glen Retirement Community. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, and her eldest son, John D. Miller. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Dotson (Richard) of Hudson; sons, Robert Miller of N. Windham, Conn., and George (Muriel) Miller of Hampton, Conn.; daughter-in-law, Polly Miller of Scotland, Conn.; grandsons, Michael (Tracy) Miller of Lebanon, Conn., and Peter (Terry) Miller of Scotland, Conn.; great-grandson, Nick Miller of Lebanon, Conn.; and sister, Elise Lono of Redding, Calif. She donated her body to Northeast Ohio Universities, College of Medicine, Department of Human Anatomy. The family will have a private memorial service. Memorial donations may be made to the Hudson Library and Historical Society. Comments
