Congregational Church discusses politics

The First Congregational Church of Hudson, 47 Aurora St., invites the community to hear Dr. John Green, a political science professor and director of the Bliss Institute at University of Akron, speak on "The Faith Factor and the 2008 Presidential Election: A Tale of Two Campaigns."

The meeting will be in the fellowship hall April 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. For more information, call the church at 330-650-4048.

Churches gather for World Day of Prayer

In recognition of the National Day of Prayer, Hudson's churches, through the ministerial association, are sponsoring a prayer breakfast May 1 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Hudson Community Chapel, at the intersection of Terex Road and Route 303.

Local church members and Hudson residents are encouraged to come together at this event to pray.

A breakfast buffet will be served, followed by a program of music, guest speakers from the community and prayer led by pastors from Hudson churches.

The cost is $10 per person. Tickets may be purchased at the Hudson Community Chapel church office or on its Web site,
www.hudsonchapel.org.

Healing services focuses on forgiveness

Forgiveness will be the focus of healing services at St. Mary Church, 340 N. Main St., April 20 at 7 p.m. and at the First Congregational Church, 47 Aurora St., April 21 at 6:30 p.m.

Laurie Hart, who lost her husband in the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, will share her story.

St. Mary Church plans Charismatic Mass

St. Mary Church in Hudson, 340 N. Main St., will host a Charismatic Mass April 25 at 7:30 p.m.

Praise and worship will begin at 7 p.m. There will be healing prayers following the Mass. For more information, call 330-673-6162.

Boychoir to perform at First Congregational

The Ohio Boychoir, under the musical direction of Dr. David Kienzle, will perform "Sing the Earth Green," an environmentally-themed concert, at First Congregational Church of Hudson, 47 Aurora St., May 4 at 4 p.m.

The program will present both sacred and secular choral music which will explore environmental themes and mankind's stewardship over the Earth.

The concert will include the debut of Cleveland composer Anne C. Wilson's new choral work "We Belong to the Earth," commissioned for the Ohio Boychoir for this concert series.

No admission will be charged. A free-will offering will be received.

The Ohio Boychoir was founded in 1974 and has performed before five U.S. presidents. It is accepting new members for its summer camp and upcoming season.

United Methodist
hosts annual sale

Hudson United Methodist Church, 2600 Hudson-Aurora Road, will host its 20th annual attic sale May 3 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be a half price and bag sale after 1. Items can be donated to the church beginning from April 28 through May 1.

Orthodox church plans Easter celebrations

Following the Julian calendar, St. Herman of Alaska Eastern Orthodox Church will offer a full schedule of Lenten and Easter services through Great and Holy Pascha, April 27, and throughout the following Bright Week at the Chapel in Markillie Cemetery.

The Lenten schedule includes Divine Liturgy Sundays at 10 a.m. through April 20; Presanctified Liturgies Wednesdays and Fridays at 6 p.m. through April 23.

Great and Holy Pascha will begin with Nocturnes at 11:30 p.m. April 26 and continue into the early morning of April 27.

Children's choir
comes to Hudson

Hudson Presbyterian Church and Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy will host the Children of the World Choir in Hudson for three days.

The choir consists of 12 children, ages 8 to 10 from different countries around the world.

The children use the gift of music to raise awareness about the global population of children afflicted with AIDS.

The concert will be May 7 at 7 p.m. at the Hudson Presbyterian Church, 201 W. Streetsboro St.

A freewill offering will be collected to benefit children with AIDS during the concert.
