Burglars take electronics, jewelry from residence

Hudson -- A Jonathan Drive family returned home from spring break to find their home had been burglarized while they were gone, according to police reports.

Items missing include a $1,600 40-inch television, a $100 DVD player and more than a dozen items of jewelry.

No estimate of the value of the jewelry was provided.

The burglary occurred sometime during March 16 to 21.

According to the police report, burglars broke a window in a back door to gain entry. An investigation is pending.

Burglary

March 30. Items taken from vehicle: A Nanette Avenue resident said items were stolen from his daughter's unlocked vehicle which was parked in an unlocked garage overnight.

A portable media player, purse, digital camera and cash was reported missing. Loss was estimated at $477.

Theft

March 29. Credit card number taken: A Westbrook Way man said his credit card number was used without his knowledge.

According to the report, the card number was used to make purchases totaling $902.

An investigation is pending.

March 27. Items removed from backpack: A Woodspring Lane resident said a $110 calculator and a $110 portable media player were removed from an unattended backpack at the Hudson Library and Historical Society after 5 p.m.

March 24. Knives stolen: A North Main Street business said two knives valued at $86 were removed from the store.

According to the police report, the theft occurred sometime during the last six weeks.

March 25. Items stolen from vehicle: A Hayward Drive resident said a $250 global positioning system and a $1 fingernail clipper were removed from an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway.

Falsification

March 25. Man uses fake identification: A 20-year-old Stow man was cited by police for falsification after he attempted to use a fake ID to buy alcohol at a store on Darrow Road.

Domestic violence /
child endangering

March 25. Woman claims injury: A Stone Road resident said she was scratched on her wrist and side by her 24-year-old boyfriend from Streetsboro.

The incident happened in the presence of her 2-year-old child shortly after 7 p.m.

No medical treatment was reported.

According to the police report, the man was arrested and charged with domestic violence and child endangering and taken to Summit County Jail.

March 29. Hudson man charged: A 40-year-old Hudson man was arrested and charged with domestic violence at 4:26 a.m. after a 42-year-old Ravenna Road woman told police she was threatened with physical harm.

According to the police report, the suspect had prior convictions for domestic violence.

He was taken to Summit County Jail.

Disorderly conduct

March 28. House invaded by laser pointer: A Samson Circle resident said a laser pointer was pointed into his house.

The police report indicated the pointer was used by a 12-year-old neighbor and that no harm was intended.

According to the report, the parents took the pointer away from their child.

No charges were filed.

March 30. Three people cited: A 25-year-old Hudson man, a 28-year-old Warren man, and a 27-year-old Warren woman were all cited after a physical altercation at a bar on Darrow Road shortly after midnight.

According to the police report, the men were cited for disorderly conduct and the woman was cited for obstruction of official business.

All were cited and released. No injuries were reported.

Operating a vehicle
while intoxicated

March 31. Akron man arrested: A 59-year-old Hudson man was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, having a blood alcohol content of .198, and failure to control his vehicle after he struck a utility pole on Route 303 and Milford Drive shortly after midnight. Ohio's blood alcohol limit is 0.08 for adults.

According to the police report, the man was taken to the Hudson Police Department and later released on a personal recognizance bond.

His vehicle was towed.

No injuries were reported.
