Hudson -- A 14-year-old boy was referred to the police youth division after he allegedly detonated a homemade explosive device in his driveway March 20 at 10:30 p.m. According to a police spokesperson, the boy's father said he was conducting a school science experiment No damage was reported to the driveway by the device made by foil and drain cleaner device. Theft March 20. Adapter taken: An employee of a shop on West Streetsboro Street said someone removed a $99.99 X-Box wi-fi adapter from the premises without paying for it. According to the report, the theft occurred sometime during the morning. March 21. Antique dress stolen: An employee of an Owen Brown Street shop said a 1920s-style cream colored silk dress was taken sometime between March 13 to 21. Loss was placed at $125. Burglary March 22. Door broken: The daughter of a Tyre Drive resident vacationing in Florida told police a back door was broken and standing open at her parents' home. According to the police report, nothing inside was disturbed. No loss was reported. Criminal mischief March 21. Mailbox spray painted: A Woodspring Lane resident said someone spray-painted her mailbox pink sometime during the night. Damage was estimated at $40. Operating a vehicle
March 21. Stow man arrested: A 64-year-old Stow man was arrested after he was observed driving erratically on South Main Street after 10:30 p.m. According to a police spokesperson, the man failed field sobriety tests and was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and having a blood alcohol content of 0.145. The legal limit is 0.08. He was taken to Hudson Police Department and later released on a personal recognizance bond. His vehicle was towed. Disturbing the peace March 22. Barking dog brings police: A St. Ives Boulevard resident complained of a barking dog shortly before midnight. Police advised the dog's owner of noise ordinances. No charges were filed. Unruly juvenile March 18. Police called to youth center: An employee of the Youth Development Center on Hines Hill Road said he was struck by a paperback book thrown by a 14-year-old male resident of the facility. According to a police spokesperson, the man, a substitute teacher, was uninjured. No charges were filed. Disorderly conduct March 19. Police investigate incident at local hotel: Complaints by a Ravenna Street woman of inappropriate touching and a Ravenna Street man's complaint of being menaced at a Ravenna Street motel are being investigated by police. According to a police spokesperson, a male resident said he went into a neighboring room in the hotel shortly after midnight when he heard loud noises. He said when he returned to his room another female from the neighboring room came into his room threatening him, stating he had touched another female inappropriately. No charges were filed.
