Speaker visits
Evangelist Dennis Heber will speak at Dwelling Place Family Church March 30 at 10 a.m. Heber has been a guest lecturer at Destiny Bible College. His ministry has taken him from the inner-city streets, tents and churches of Cleveland to more than 50 countries where he has conducted crusades and seminars. On April 6, the Rev. Steve Hutchinson resumes his sermon series titled "Effective Leadership for All Walks of Life." Past messages in this series are available for purchase on CD. The Women's Bible Study continues to meet on the first and third Mondays of each month from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Hattie's Café, 164 N. Main Street. Everyone is welcome. Temple Beth Shalom, 50 Division St. in Hudson, will present a Purim Spiel April 5, beginning with a pot-luck dinner at 5:30 p.m. Guests should bring a dish to share, and the temple will supply paper products and drinks. The dinner will be followed by a Purim Spiel (a parody skit) titled "Middle East Side Story" at 7 p.m. It features Joseph Selinger as Haman, Amy McCormick as Queen Esther and choreography by Erica Deroche. The spiel is directed by Ellen Friedman. Guests can dress in costumes. Make reservations by calling the temple at 330-656-1800. Men's club accepting scholarship applications St. Mary's Men's Club is accepting applications for a $1,500 scholarship from any high school senior who is, or whose family are members of St. Mary Church in Hudson. The scholarship is to be used for educational training at any college, university, seminary, convent or technical school. Scholarship applications are available by sending an e-mail to GetApp@Jaeklegroup.com. Instructions for submitting the application are included in the application. The deadline for applying is 8 a.m. April 7. St. Mary Church plans Charismatic Mass St. Mary Church in Hudson, 340 N. Main St., will host a Charismatic Mass April 25 at 7:30 p.m. There will be healing prayers following the Mass. For more information, call 330-673-6162. Chapel hosts kids' event Hudson Community Chapel, 750 W. Streetsboro St., will host its second "Breakout" night for third- through fifth-graders April 11 from 7 to 10 p.m. The night will include inflatables, Nerf Dart Mega Tag, crafts, DDR, RC Car Racing, a wacky hair and nail salon, professional line and hip hop dance instructors, a photo booth, karaoke, Nintendo, junk food, live worship and a talk from the Chapel's junior high pastor, Todd Iannetta. Tickets are $10 at the door. However, those who register early at hudsonchapel.org can buy tickets for $7. Parents can volunteer online when registering their kids. For information, call the church at 330-650-9533. Hymn sing to be April 6 The Evangelical Covenant Church of Hudson, 190 W. Streetsboro St., will host a hymn sing April 6 at 7 p.m. The community is invited. The church will provide copies of "The Covenant Hymnal" to visitors. Song requests will be taken.
