Carolyn Bethany Davis, 24, of Columbia, S.C., formerly of Hudson, died suddenly March 16, 2008.

Ms. Davis was born in Mt. Holly, N.J., but spent most of her school years in Hudson. She graduated from Hudson High School in 2002 and the University of South Carolina in 2006. She was the lead staff accountant at Avtec.

She lost her mother early in life and became a surrogate mother to her younger brother for most of his developing years. As a result, she developed the maturity and the responsibility of someone more senior and could be relied on completely. Her cousin, who was five years older, found Ms. Davis more mature than people in her own age group, and they became as close as sisters.

She trained two golden retriever puppies and was, at the time of her death, training an 11-week-old labrador retriever. She was most happy around family, and loved to complete projects at home or work.

She is survived by her father, Dwight Davis of Hudson; brothers, Will of Columbus and Kevin of Hudson; and partner, Jeff McGrory of Columbia, S.C. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joni Asay Davis.

Services were in Columbia, and she will be buried in Hudson beside her mother.
