by Laura Freeman Reporter Akron -- In the Democratic primary race for Summit County Executive Russ Pry has spent more than $40,000 more than his opponent Joe Finley. Candidates running for Summit County offices and political action committees supporting issues on the March 4 ballot submitted pre-primary election finance reports by Feb. 21. The reports detail revenue and expenditures between Jan. 1 and Feb. 13. Candidates had to file if total contributions and expenditures each total more than $500. In the race for Summit County Executive, Democrats Russ Pry and Joe Finley competed in the March 4 primary, while Republican Jim Laria ran unopposed. Friends of Russ Pry reported raising $24,350 from 58 contributors from Jan. 1 to Feb. 13, which was added to $88,912 in previous contributions for a total of $113,262 in contributions. Expenditures for billboards, yard signs, ads, postage and miscellaneous totaled $40,159, according to the report, leaving a balance of $73,103. In kind contributions totaled $24,578. Friends of Joe Finley reported raising $1,990 from 21 contributors from Jan. 1 to Feb. 13, which was added to $1,190 in previous contributions for $3,180 in contributions. Expenditures for media and postage totaled $241, leaving a balance of $2,939. Finley also had an outstanding loan of $3,204. The Citizens for Public Transportation, which supports Issue 8, a sales tax increase for the Metro Regional Transit Authority, reported $35,530 in contributions from 80 contributors from Jan. 1 to Feb. 13. Combined with $8,442 contributed before Jan. 1, the campaign reported a total of $43,972. GPD Associates and Summit Construction Co. contributed $10,000 each, and Roetzel and Andress contributed $5,000. The Citizens for Public Transportation reported spending $42,016 on yard signs, campaign management, printing and stamps, leaving a balance of $1,956. In the race for Summit County Prosecutor, Republicans Roe Fox and Nancy Mercurio Morrison competed in the March 4 primary while Democrat Sherri Bevan Walsh ran unopposed. Fox reported raising $8,420 from 12 contributors, including $5,000 from Tim Pittinger. The committee reported no expenditures as of Feb. 13. In kind contributions totaled $140. Morrison reported raising $2,040 from 34 contributors, including $528 from Morrison herself, and spent $828 on a fundraiser. In kind contributions totaled $80, and the committee has an outstanding loan of $300. Walsh received $75 from Jan. 1 to Feb. 13, but had previous contributions of $97,298.
