FOSTER GEORGE "BUD" NAUFFTS / Well-known in world of Cleveland advertising

Foster George "Bud" Nauffts, 73, of Hudson died Feb. 1, 2008, at home with his family at his side.

Mr. Nauffts was born on August 13, 1934, in Cambridge, Mass.

He fell in love with the game of golf as a boy, won the men's club championship at Fresh Pond Country Club in Belmont, Mass., by the time he was 21, and later won two men's championships at Hudson Country Club, where he was a member for more than 35 years.

He met the love of his life, Dorrit Joseph, at Cambridge High, where they were voted king and queen of their senior prom. They married in 1956, and spent the next 51 years together.

His professional life was spent mostly in sales, working at different times for Wyeth, 3M and Peterson Publishing in Cleveland.

He spent the last 18 years of his career at Crain's Cleveland Business as ad sales director, and was a well-known figure in the world of Cleveland advertising. Mr. Nauffts loved Crain's, the Crain family, and especially his publisher and dear friend, Brian Tucker.

Mr. Nauffts was blessed with a pure Irish tenor voice and sang popular renditions of "Danny Boy," "I left My Heart In San Francisco" and a dozen other ballads.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Foster James and Alma (Torgusen) Nauffts; siblings, Elizabeth Leary, Barbara Marks and Phyllis Yapp

He is survived by his wife, Dorrit; children, Mitchell (Lisa) of New York City, Eric (Ann) of Haverhill, Mass., Geoffrey (partner, Christopher Hanke) of New York City and Kristin (partner, Corlette Baylock); grandchildren, Sasha, Alexander, Persy, Tyler, Andrew, Peter and Abigail; siblings, Joanne Murphy of Woburn, Mass.; brother-in-law, Gary Joseph (Karen) and Ralph Marks (Jane); and many nephews and nieces.

Memorials may be made to Western Reserve Academy and Hospice of the Western Reserve.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 7 at Christ Church Episcopal, 21 Aurora St.

Arrangements were handled by Johnson-Romito Funeral Home.
