Hudson Shoppers have wide new sidewalks in front of the stores on Main Street and construction should be completed at the end of July.
"There will still be some minor work, including the wall on the green in August, but it should be much better in August," said Communications Manager Jody Roberts.
Construction by Mr. Excavator is estimated at $4.8 million but final costs for the North Main Street Improvement project won't be known until it is completed, Roberts said.
The work is between state Route 303 and Owen Brown Street and includes infrastructure improvements beneath ground for water and sewer and above ground like new sidewalks, new lights, improved crosswalks and landscaping.
The stores are open and accessible from the new sidewalks and most parking is open.
New curbs, decorative lights and trees in silva cells have been added to Main Street as well as a paver sidewalk on the Clocktower Green.
Toward the end of the work schedule, bump outs will be added for safer street crossings, final landscaping, a retaining wall on the Gazebo Green and street signage.
A final layer of pavement, with the assistance of Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study funding and an Ohio Department of Natural Resources Grant, the Ohio Department of Transportation will resurface North Main Street, and lines will be added last.
