The 2017 Village of Boston Heights observance of Memorial Day begins with the Woodridge Marching Band parading from its Fire Department to Fairview Cemetery at 8:30 a.m. Members of the Hudson American Legion Post 464 will perform the flagpole service lowering the American flag to half-staff while the band plays patriotic music. Pastor Dan Page presents the Memorial Service that is followed by the band playing Taps. Those in attendance are then invited by Mayor Bill Goncy to follow bagpiper Doug Risley to the Village Fallen Safety Force Memorial for Police and Firefighters where Pastor Page leads the brief service. Afterwards the Fairview Cemetery Association invites all attendees to light refreshments in the neighboring Village Hall at 45 E. Boston Mills Road.
