City Council legislative lowdown for May 2

Hudson City Council members Beth Bigham, President Hal DeSaussure, Dennis Hanink, Alex Kelemen, Casey Weinstein, Dan Williams and William Wooldredge approved the following legislation at the May 2, 2017, regular Council meeting.

*A resolution thanking Joan Brandon for her service as a member of the cemetery board and to the Hudson community from Nov. 17, 2004 to Dec. 31, 2016.

*A resolution thanking A.J. Stokes for his service as a member of the Cable Television Advisory Committee and the Cemetery Board and to the Hudson community from Jan. 1, 2002 through Jan. 23, 2017.

*A proclamation for special recognition of "Public Service Recognition Week" during May 7 13, 2017 in honor of public employees who serve at all levels of government.

*A proclamation for special recognition of "Poppy Days" during May 19 - 20, 2017

The American Legion Auxiliary will distribute memorial flowers in Hudson on May 19 - 20, 2017, in recognition of the sacrifice made by men and women who served and died for their country during a time of war.

*A resolution authorizing the city manager to enter into an agreement for the installation of a recreational splash pad for $215,000 for Veterans Way Park; and declaring an emergency. $140,000 will be funded by the Parks Fund, and $75,000 has been donated by the Hudson Kiwanis.

*A resolution authorizing the city manager to enter into a purchase agreement with Altec Industries for a digger derrick truck for $220,450 for Hudson Public Power; and declaring an emergency.

*A resolution authorizing the city manager to enter into a purchase agreement with Skylift Inc. for a backyard bucket digger and trailer for $148,200 for Hudson Public Power; and declaring an emergency.

*A resolution authorizing the city manager to accept a Summit County Land Bank Community Development 50 percent matching grant for $25,000 from the Summit County Land Reutilization Corporation for re-use of the former Koberna property for the development of the Hudson City School District's new bus garage and city of Hudson facilities.

*A resolution authorizing the city manager to accept a Community Recycling Access Grant for $22,262 from the Summit/Akron Solid Waste Management Authority (dba Reworks) to support recycling services.

*A resolution authorizing the city manager to enter into a contract with the A. Morgan Building Group for $223,535 for the Hudson Public Power facility space renovation construction project at 1220 Hudson Gate.

*A resolution authorizing the city manager to execute a change order for $10,000 to the contract with United Earthworks, LLC for the Barlow Road widening project (phase 2 Barlow Road railroad crossing grade improvements); and declaring an emergency.

*A resolution authorizing the city manager to enter into a professional services contract with Ciuni & Panichi Inc. for $26,750 for the preparation of the city's 2016 annual financial statements.

*A resolution to approve $7,283 for fish stock from Fenders Fish Hatchery for Hudson Springs Lake.

*An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 16-181 making appropriations for the current expenses and other expenditures of the city of Hudson during the first quarter of the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2017 by making additional and/or amended appropriations.
