Case-Barlow Farm's Second Sunday Open Houses were such a great success during the last few years.
The 2017 season begins on Mother's Day, May 14, with display of vintage wedding dresses and more. Stop by and see beautiful bridal ware at the historic farm located at 1931 Barlow Road in Hudson from 1 to 4 pm. There is no charge but donations to help restore the 1814 farmstead are appreciated.
Kathy Sluzewski is loaning the dress of her mother, Bette Mikesell who married Staff Sargent Donald Taflinger on July 12, 1942. The bride chose a street-length dress of avocado green faille, made with fitted bodice, low shirred waistline and bracelet sleeves.
One of the most unique dress is that of Olive Silsbe Forshay, grandmother of Betsy MacLeod. Olive Silsbe married her neighbor David Forshay in Brooklyn, N.Y in December, 1908. The full length wedding dress has much beading and detail as was typical of the Victorian era.
Future open house dates are June 11, July 9 and Aug. 13. Save Sept. 10 for the fabulous annual Farm Fest with fun for all ages and interests.
Volunteers are always welcome. Call CBF at 330-650-0591 to volunteer as an individual, as a group or family, or to be a professional or business sponsor.
