Destination Hudson seeking old Hudson photographs

Published: April 16, 2017 12:00 AM

Destination Hudson is looking for photographic images to include in a new "Then and Now" book. The still untitled book is scheduled for publication in November. Anyone having 19th or 20th century photographs that portray community events or physical sites in Hudson should submit those images to the Hudson Visitor Center, Town Hall, 27 E. Main St., Hudson. Photos can be submitted by mail or in person. The Visitor Center is open weekdays from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from noon until 4 p.m. All submissions should indicate the subject of the photograph, the year in which it was taken and contact information for the submitter.

The deadline for photo submissions is Friday May 5. Liz Murphy, Destination Hudson's Executive Director, noted "all submitted photos will be returned following the juried selection process." Selected images will be digitized before being returned to the image's owner. Consent to use selected images will be required prior to publication.

"We're really excited," said Destination Hudson President Ron Stolle. "And hope to involve the entire community to helping tell the story of our wonderful city."

The "Then and Now" gift book will be sold exclusively at the Visitor Center and on-line through Destination Hudson's website. Pre-orders for the books will be accepted in the Fall. All proceeds from the sale of the book will go directly to Destination Hudson in support of operating the Hudson Visitor Center.
