Four people were injured and transported to area hospitals following an apartment fire Thursday night that caused an estimated $500,000 in damage.
At approximately 11:05 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, Cuyahoga Falls fire responded to an apartment fire at Studio City, 2255 Winter Park Way, according to a fire department press release.
Initial crews on scene found heavy black smoke throughout the first floor extending up into the upper floors, the release said.
Several residents were requesting rescue from outside balconies. Crews worked intensely to locate, extinguish the fire and rescue occupants, according to the fire department.
The fire appeared to have originated in a first floor apartment; the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Four people were treated and transported to area hospitals, including one firefighter. The firefighter was treated and released from the hospital, according to the fire department.
Conditions of the other three were not available. Several other people were treated and or evaluated on scene and released.
Damage to the four-story, 67-unit building is estimated at $500,000, according to an insurance agent.
Several departments responded to Ed Cuyahoga Falls with the incident including Akron, Stow, Tallmage, Munroe Falls, Fairlawn, Hudson, Twinsburg and Richfield.
