A 31-year-old Hudson business owner has been bound over to a Summit County Grand Jury on felony forgery and theft charges.
According to court records Sean F. Hardy, of Stow, and president of Hardy Ealy & Associates, was bound over to a Summit County Grand Jury Feb. 23 after being charged Feb. 22 by Hudson Police with forgery and theft, both fifth-degree felonies.
Hardy's attorney, George G. Keith declined to comment on the charges.
"It would be inappropriate for me to comment on a pending matter," according to Keith.
According to Hudson Police, Hardy is alleged to have created and signed 13 counterfeit checks on the account of one of his business clients for more than $5,200. The checks were allegedly used to pay on debts, police said.
Police were notified by the account holder, according to Hudson Det. Kaija Jeantet.
Hardy turned himself into the the Stow Municipal Court and was released on a $10,000 recognizance bond.
Hardy pleaded guilty May 3, 2016, in the Stow Municipal Court to one count of unauthorized practice, a misdemeanor in the first degree and was fined $1,000 with $500 suspended and ordered to immediately cease and desist in representing himself as a CPA or using material describing him as such and cooperate completely with Accountancy Board of Ohio.
He was ordered not to use social media to misrepresent himself.
According to court and Hudson Police Department records, the 2016 charge against Hardy was brought by an investigator for the Accountancy Board of Ohio. The investigator claimed Hardy purported to be a certified public accountant but lacks the credentials and is not licensed as a CPA in the state of Ohio.
An aggravated menacing charge from January is also pending against Hardy with an April 12 jury trial scheduled in Stow Municipal Court in front of Judge Lisa Coates. According to police, a postal clerk from the Hudson Post Office alleged Hardy made threats against him.
Hardy Ealy & Associates, an accounting and tax preparation service, is located at 186 N. Main St. in Hudson.
