Singers of all ages are invited to come sing this winter with one of the area's three choruses Hudson Community Chorus, Hudson Community Children's Chorus or Hudson Community Youth Chorus. New members will be welcomed through the end of January for the Spring season. The choruses are open to residents of Northeast Ohio.
Hudson Community Children's Chorus (H3C) is a non-audition entry level group where singers in grades three through five learn the fundamentals of choral singing. Singers work on developing vocal tone and accurate pitch combined with the basics of singing with others in unison and in two part harmony. They also study choral repertoire in English and other languages and perform in concerts with the Hudson Community Chorus and the Hudson Youth Chorus as well as in other community outreach concerts. In its second year, H3C meets from 5 until 5:45 p.m. at Christ Church Episcopal, Hudson.
The Hudson Community Youth Chorus (HCYC) is a treble performing ensemble for girls in grades five through 12 and boys grades five through voice change. HCYC focuses on teaching healthy vocal technique, sight singing skills, music theory, singing in two and three-part harmony in English and other languages both accompanied and a cappella. This group performs with the Hudson Community Chorus, H3C and on its own in outreach concerts in the area. HCYC meets on Mondays from 6 until 7:15 p.m., at Christ Church Episcopal, Hudson. Both H3C and HCYC are directed by Eve Sliwinski, an experienced choral conductor, musician and singer.
The Hudson Community Chorus (HCC), in its 29th season, is open to singers 18 and older, and is a non-audition chorus. Led by Nathaniel Duvuvuei, the group performs a wide variety of sacred and secular choral music in several concerts each year. In December, the chorus performed John Rutter's, Magnificat with full orchestra to a standing room only crowd. Director Duvuvuei's focus is on developing and reawakening choral skills as well as expanding the choral repertoire of both singers and audience. HCC meets on Tuesday evenings from 7 until 9 p.m. at First Congregational Church, Hudson.
