Hudson -- The city celebrates 10 years of leaf collection, which started in the fall of 2007. Residents can begin raking their leaves to the curb beginning the week of Oct. 24.

The city is divided into four quadrants using state Routes 91 and 303 with three leaf pickups per quadrant in a six-week cycle.

The 2016 pick-up dates by city quadrant are:

Northeast and Southwest quadrants have pick-ups the weeks of Oct. 24, Nov. 7 and Nov. 21

Southeast and Northwest quadrants have pick-ups the weeks of Oct. 31, Nov. 14 and Nov. 28.

Property owners will need to place leaves on the curb, but not in the street or ditches, by 7 a.m. Monday morning the week scheduled for pickup.

City workers will pick up the leaves in the designated quadrants beginning Monday and will work through Sunday.

The city only picks up leaves on publicly maintained streets. Residents on private streets or in private condominium developments can place their leaves along the tree lawn of the public street closest to their private street entrance.

Residents should place leaves in the tree lawn area and remove any temporary or portable basketball hoops from the curb. Do not place leaves in the street, storm water ditch or gutter area. Placing leaves in the street will obstruct the flow of storm water runoff during rain events and cause street flooding.

Do not include any debris. Only leaves should be placed on the curb.

Don't place leaves behind obstacles such as parked vehicles, trees, mailboxes, fire hydrants, streetlights, etc. where the city trucks cannot reach them with the vacuum hose.
