A year ago, the City of Hudson launched Velocity Broadband and began rolling it out to area businesses, making Hudson the first gigabit city in Northeast Ohio. Fiber is in place for more than three-quarters of the city.

"It's a huge accomplishment that we've been able to work so quickly to provide businesses with the connection speeds and reliability they've been asking for," said Jim Stifler, economic development director. "As we mark our one-year anniversary, we're celebrating what got us here and looking forward to even more progress as we lead the way as an intelligent, progressive City."

As part of the celebration, Hudson residents, businesses and visitors will find chalk art around town commemorating the anniversary and the clock tower will light up to reveal a special message. With local advertisements placed and an appreciation breakfast on Sept. 29 for the businesses who were willing and eager to be early adopters of this innovative new service, we want to thank everyone who helped Hudson achieve this one-year anniversary milestone.

Showing no signs of slowing down, next up for Velocity Broadband is continuing to connect Hudson business in the downtown, in the Georgetown Road area and other parts of the city. To sign up for Velocity Broadband or to learn more, visit www.hudsonvelocity.com.
