Hudson Community First seeks those who made a difference

Hudson -- Hudson Community First is looking for folks who have taken the time to positively impact a student's life through an act of kindness through Take a Second Make a Difference nominations.

The program was adopted several years ago from a similar one in Kansas, according to Laura Gasbarro, co executive director of HCF.

"The premise is that a momentary act of kindness can change the way a youth perceives an adult," Gasbarro said. "Some people intentionally try making a difference through their actions, but others do not even know the impact they may have on a child, a peer, others by their kindness or actions."

Gasbarro called making a difference in one's own community, as well as in the world, a wonderful thing.

"The program just highlights the good that people across our community are doing," Gasbarro added.

Gasbarro, co-executive director Cheryl Rauch and the committee have been overwhelmed by the "numerous nominations that we receive from every corner of Hudson and beyond," Gasbarro said.

"Hudson is an amazing place and the things people are doing to make a difference at times are extraordinary," she added.

To nominate a candidate visit www.hudsoncommunityfirst.com and download an application. The application must be filled out and mailed to P.O.Box 515, Hudson, OH, 44236.

"But do it quick, since the deadline was extended to Oct. 9," Gasbarro said. "After that the selection committee will choose the winners. Winners will be honored at the annual Take a Second luncheon on Oct. 26 at the Country Club of Hudson."

First National Bank is sponsor of the luncheon.

"Anyone can nominate someone -- winners have included students, teachers, neighbors, merchants, young, old, bus drivers, crossing guards, winners have come from every school in Hudson and beyond," Gasbarro said. "Make a difference and nominate someone you know for the good that they do for kids and our community."
