Hudson City Council Legislative Lowdown for Sept. 6, 2016

Council members present: Beth Bigham, Hal DeSaussure, Dennis Hanink, Alex Kelemen, Casey Weinstein and Dan Williams.

Council members absent: William Wooldredge.

A resolution designating "Merino Way" as an honorary street name and providing for location of a sign on Park Lane at the intersection of First Street in recognition of the late Richard "Rich" Merino.

Special Recognition of Constitution Week Sept. 17-23, 2016 in Hudson to recognize the U.S. Constitution.

A motion that city Council concur with the city manager's recommendation to re-appoint David Robbins as the police chief. Robbins served as police chief from August 8, 2003, until his retirement on July 3, 2016.

A resolution authorizing the city manager to enter into a lease extension for a three-year term lease with Jacklin Properties LLC for office space at 115 Executive Parkway, Hudson, Ohio, for the Municipal Service Center office space; and declaring an emergency.

A resolution authorizing the obligation of matching funds for a Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant administered by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, for construction of the Ellsworth Meadows Trail expansion, if the grant is awarded to the Hudson Parks. The city is eligible for reimbursement of $145,155 of the project costs.

A resolution authorizing the city manager to issue a Request For Qualifications for professional services associated with the design and construction of a city public works facility on land owned by the city at 996 Hines Hill Road; and declaring an emergency.

An ordinance amending section 1207.13, "Transportation / Circulation / Pedestrian Linkage," of Chapter 1207, "Zoning Development and Site Plan Standards," of the Land Development Code.

An ordinance adopting the engineering standards for infrastructure construction and directing their codification into Chapter 1419 "Engineering Standards for Infrastructure Construction" of the Codified Ordinances.

An ordinance amending codified ordinance sections 288.01, 288.02 and 288.03 to reflect recent amendments to the city charter related to the city's park board.

A resolution authorizing the city manager to enter into a Letter of Intent with Testa Companies for the development of Downtown Phase II; and declaring an emergency.

An ordinance adopting a moratorium on applications for, and the granting of, zoning certificates for any building, structure, use or change of use that would enable the cultivation, processing, distribution or sale of medical marijuana for a period not to exceed six months in order to allow the city to review applicable state and local laws, to plan for regulations relating to such uses; and declaring an emergency.
