Former tennis instructor Jeff Belcher is slated for more surgery this month.
The Hudson resident who suffered a catastrophic illness in March last year lost both hands, his right leg from the knee down, and part of his left foot -- all due to Grave's disease, a thyroid disease that compromises the body's immune system.
Belcher has been on antibiotics for the past two months to clear up a bone infection in his left heel but his condition is not improving and he faces another amputation below the knee on his left leg, according to information provided by Belcher.
To thank people who are willing to help in paying for the surgery, Jeff's wife Lora Belcher would like to offer a portion of all donations to the Amputee Coalition.
Jeff is a potential candidate for hand transplants, but not until he is infection free.
To assist the family an account has been set up in Belcher's name at First Merit Bank, 116 W. Streetsboro St. Suite 13, Hudson, OH, 44226.
