Add some Hudson art to your backyard and conserve water at the same time. The city's Environmental Awareness Committee is sponsoring a rain barrel raffle. Three teams of artists designed and decorated the barrels, and a $1 ticket earns people a chance to win your favorite creation.
Resident Emily Schumacher created the cloud and rain drop design, students in Carolyn Huber's art class at Hudson High School painted the water lily creation, and Western Reserve Academy students Taylor Koscho and Megan Monsman painted the Humans of Hudson barrel.
The barrels are taking a tour of Hudson community events this summer. Look for them at the final Screen on the Green on Aug. 23, as well as Taste of Hudson Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. Tickets are $1 each and benefit ongoing stormwater education and awareness programs.
Rain barrel raffle tickets also will be sold at Green on the Green. The Sept. 20 event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. will highlight ways to live green. The event will feature educational and fun exhibits, plus an opportunity to recycle some electronics. The winning raffle tickets for each barrel will be drawn during Green on the Green.
Green on the Green is held in conjunction with the Tinker's Creek Watershed Festival.
