Three people were transported to local hospitals Aug. 5 with minor injuries after being struck by a truck driven by an 81-year-old employee of the Akron Auto Auction, 2471 Ley Drive.
The employee, from Cuyahoga Falls, told police that the accelerator on the Dodge truck he was driving stuck while he was lining up cars for the auction shortly before 10 a.m., according to Inspector Bill Holland of the Summit County Sheriff's Department. The stuck accelerator caused the truck to hit the cars, which hit the pedestrians, Holland added. Holland does not expect charges to be filed.
"Two of the pedestrians were customers of the auction and one was an auction employee," according to Holland.
Two of the injured men, ages 35 and 37, are from Canton. The other injured man, 66, is from Norton, Holland said.
