As the temperature increases, so do the number of orange barrels throughout the City. Summer is a busy construction time as we repair and replace roads and infrastructure. Here are updates on current summer projects.
Sullivan Road was closed June 27 to replace a 48-inch culvert pipe at 5358 Sullivan Road.
Starting June 20, the contractor began making necessary repairs to the roadway, driveway approaches, sidewalks and curb ramps on Hudson Drive. The final course of asphalt was scheduled to installed, followed by re-striping and final restoration. All work is weather dependent.
Asphalt Resurfacing & Reconstruction
The cement stabilization process on Paderborne Drive and Thackery Lane is complete, as well as the installation of the stone and asphalt layers. All roads in the Canterbury on the Lakes subdivision will have a second layer of paving completed by the end of the week of June 22, weather permitting.
All sanitary sewers have been cleaned on Hartford Drive, West Streetsboro Street, Sunset Drive, Clairhaven Road, Aurora Road, and the trunk sewer under the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks off Morse Road. Lining is scheduled for the week of June 30. During the lining process, residents may be asked not to flush toilets or run water. This disruption will only last a few hours, and residents will be notified 48 hours in advance.
Brush Cleaning at Barlow Ponds
On June 21, Vizmeg Landscaping began clearing woody brush from the dam areas at the Barlow Community Center ponds as mandated by an Ohio Department of Natural Resources inspection checklist that was submitted to the City. After brush clearing is complete, repairs will be made to damage caused by burrow holes or erosion. In addition, Vizmeg Landscaping will apply a cut-stump herbicite to allow grasses more of a chance to spread.
East Main Street Water Valve Repair
The City repaired a water valve in front of 27 East Main Street June 24 and 25.
