Hudson -- Prestige Homes, builder of the Reserve at River Oaks Phase I, earned approval from the planning commission April 14 for its final plat and improvement plans.
"It's been long and drawn out," said Prestige Homes representative Chris Brown. "I think we're seeing the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel."
The project, which includes 144 single-family detached lots with an open space conservation subdivision, was first brought before the planning commission in 2008, In March 2010 an extension was granted by the commission due to economic conditions.
The Reserve at River Oaks is located east of Hudson Crossing Parkway between West Streetsboro Street and Boston Mills Road. The final plat and site improvement plans earned unanimous approval from the planning commission, with 15 conditions dealing with setbacks, street trees, entrance features, an emergency access road, sidewalks, fire hydrants and a performance bond.
The project received preliminary approval Sept. 9, 2013.
Brown said he didn't see any problems meeting the required conditions. He said his company would comply with the revisions 100 percent.
In other action, planning commission chairman Joe Mulligan opened the April 14 meeting by offering condolences to the families of the late John Jeffers, former City Councilman, and Nora LaLomia, clerk for the planning commission.
"She (Nora) was a great help to all of us and a good friend. We will all miss her," Mulligan said.
He said he could talk all night about Nora but he knew if Nora were at the meeting, she would be encouraging him to stop complimenting her and "get on with the meeting."
