Hudson -- There could be about 30,210-square-feet available for lease or sale on Darrow Road by the end of the year.

Bernie Moreno, president of The Collection Auto Group, recently announced plans for the dealership to move from two buildings on Darrow Road to a 7-acre location on state Route 14, in Streetsboro.

"We have not been provided with a move-out date, but we believe it will be by the end of the year," according to Hudson Communication Manager Jody Roberts. "The buildings are in a great location for a business or businesses that want to locate their operations in a business-friendly community and in a visible community location."

Collection Auto Group opened in Hudson November of 2012.

Moreno is waiting for approval from the city of Streetsboro before construction can begin on the new lot, which will contain a 23,000-square-foot building.

The dealership paid about $1.4 million for the property and plans to invest about $7 million in the facility, according to Moreno.

The Hudson location has 35 employees, according to Roberts.

Moreno said he looks to have 35 to 40 full-time employees at the new location.

"When we first went to Hudson, they were great; they were phenomenal to work with," he said. "We told them all along Volkswagen's preference was to be in Streetsboro."

Roberts agreed that Volkswagen wanted to dealership in Streetsboro.

"In the end, corporate calls the shots," Roberts said. "We appreciate Mr. Moreno's making the nearly $2.5 million investment [which was] the cost of property and renovations to locate the dealership here."

A public hearing is set for 7 p.m. March 24 at City Hall, 9184 Route 43, in Streetsboro, regarding a zoning text change related to the project.
