Taste of Hudson elects new slate of officers to board of directors

The festival to celebrate its 10th anniversary over Labor Day weekend

The Taste of Hudson, Inc. board of directors voted to install a new slate of officers to its board of directors in January. Elected as officers for new two-year terms are Michael Freedman (Hershey's Ice Cream) as president and Bob Liskiewicz (Leadership Plus LLC) as vice president, replacing Darin Siley and Michael Freedman respectively. Remaining as treasurer is Billie Henning (Henning Software). Patrick Kelley remains as secretary and legal counsel. Katie O'Toole Smith (Diamond Auto Lease) was installed as a member of the Taste of Hudson board of directors.

"Taste of Hudson is the biggest party I have ever been associated with," Freedman said. "Whether you are new to Hudson or a longtime resident, we hope you will join us and invite all of your friends and relatives to visit Hudson during The Taste."

"We're very proud to be part of such a passionate team of people who combine hard work and fun to serve the community each year by way of this highly regarded event," Liskiewicz said.

The Taste of Hudson, a two-day culinary, lifestyle and entertainment festival held over Labor Day weekend, annually attracts more than 35,000 people to Hudson's historic downtown. At the event, visitors may purchase delicious foods from 23 area restaurants while enjoying live entertainment, fine arts and crafts, children's activities, a wine and beer garden and much more in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Over its first nine years Taste of Hudson, Inc. has donated $267,125 to various charitable organizations.

The 2014, 10th Anniversary Taste of Hudson, presented by Akron Children's Hospital, is scheduled for Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 in historic downtown Hudson. The Taste of Hudson organizing committee met on Jan. 13 to begin planning for the big 10th anniversary celebration.

Andy Malitz, Taste of Hudson executive director, talked about plans for this year's festival.

"As always we try to add new elements and attractions to keep The Taste fresh and exciting," Malitz said. "I know that this year will be no different as we have some great new additions to the festival. More information to follow as soon as it's confirmed. Also, the 9th Annual Hail to the Chefs, a Taste of Hudson fundraising gala event, is scheduled for Friday, May 30 at Lake Forest Country Club."
