Akron - The 111th Charity Ball, which was at E.J. Thomas Hall in Akron Dec. 28, is expected to raise $75,000 for the patient-care programs at Akron Children's Hospital. The evening featured the presentation of 24 debutantes who were chosen based upon their parents' and grandparents' volunteer contributions to the community.

Some 600 people attended the event presented by the Women's Board of Akron Children's Hospital. After being held at Goodyear Hall for 38 years, the 2013 Charity Ball marks the return of the event to E.J. Thomas Hall, where it was held for several years during the 1970s.

In addition to the new venue, the evening featured an updated timeline and dinner format with assorted cuisine selections, intimate table settings and seating throughout the lobbies of the hall. Attendees enjoyed music by pianist Dan Michalec and Special Request, and dinner was presented by A Taste of Elegance.

Cyndy Myer was the 2013 chairman; vice chairs were Kathy Lane and Tammy Gersman.

Two debutantes were from Hudson. They were Madeline Medkeff from Hudson High School and Julia Geiger from Walsh Jesuit High School.
