Hudson -- A 59-year-old pain-management doctor from Hudson, who had been indicted on 22 counts of alleged sexual misconduct, was indicted on four more charges, including rape, Dec. 20 by a Summit County grand jury.
A Summit County grand jury originally passed a 22-count secret indictment Aug. 29 against James Bressi of Victoria Parkway. The charges included rape, gross sexual imposition and sexual imposition.
The supplemental indictment filed Dec. 20 includes an additional count of rape, two additional counts of gross sexual imposition and one count sexual imposition.
Bressi pleaded not guilty Sept. 4 to the original indictment and posted a $2 million/10 percent bond. The bond was later modified to $1 million/10 percent.
Bressi was scheduled to enter a not guilty plea on the four new charges during a Dec. 31 arraignment, according to Michael T. Callahan, Bressi's attorney.
"Our discovery is still ongoing, and we are still aggressively pursuing," Callahan said.
Bressi was arrested Aug. 30 at his home by members of the Hudson and Stow Police Departments, Northeast Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Summit County Sheriff's Department.
He was indicted after an 18-month investigation by Stow Police. The indictment alleges Bressi assaulted the patients under his care from September 2011 to March 2013 while he was employed at Summit Pain Specialists in Stow.
About 70 former patients had claimed, by Sept. 1, to have been victims of Bressi, Stow Police Det. Jeff Swanson said.
"I've had more victims come forward and I went back to the grand jury," he said Dec. 30.
There are just over 100 alleged victims who have come forward, Swanson said.
"And they are still coming forward," he said.
Bressi's jury trial is set for Jan. 27 in the Summit County Common Pleas courtroom of Judge Thomas Parker.
