2013 - A Look Back: Explorer turned Jet makes his mark in NFL

by Tim Troglen | reporter Published:

A 2009 graduate of Hudson High School, who was drafted in the third round by the New York Jets of the National Football League, has started 12 of 16 games in the 2013 season, including the 24-13 win over the Cleveland Browns in week 16.

Brian Winters, at 6-foot-5 and 310 pounds, was the first Kent State player selected in the draft since Jason Konz in 2010. Winters, who wears No. 67, was a three-time All-Mid-American Conference selection and the first Golden Flash ever to participate in the Senior Bowl. The former Golden Flash was the 72nd pick overall in the NFL Draft. After drafting Winters, the Jets moved him from tackle to guard.
