Hudson - The Hudson High School Cheerleaders will be hosting a Homecoming Fall Fashion Show on Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. at Hudson Country Club. The event will include a luncheon followed by the show.
According to Chairperson Mary Lindow, the girls were in need of new uniforms. Head Coach Niki Wakeling thought having a fashion show would be a good way to raise extra money for the cheerleading program.
"We had some mothers discussing putting together some jewelry parties and the fashion show idea evolved from there," said Wakeling.
The school is having its Homecoming on Sept. 27, according to Wakeling.
"The girls will be modeling Homecoming dresses as well as new fall fashions," Wakeling said.
"This is the first time we have ever done anything like this," Lindow said.
The models participating in the fashion show will be a combination of cheerleaders and cheer moms. Some of the school's football players will be escorting girls in Homecoming dresses.
The clothes are being provided by local vendors from downtown Hudson. Vendors include Winds of Change, Green Roots, Gray Colt, and b. lux. Jewelry will be provided by Sabika Jewelry.
"There are approximately 70 girls involved in the program," Lindow said.
The program consists of varsity, JV, freshman, football squad, and basketball squad cheerleaders. The eighth-grade cheer team from Hudson Middle School is also participating in the event.
Other coaches helping with the event include Andrea Frabotta, Kailee Stevens and Karlie Haines.
The event is open to the public. Those interested in purchasing tickets should contact Cathy Roberts at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tickets are $25 and will be sold up until the event. There are a total of 200 tickets that can be sold and Wakeling is hoping for a sell out.
"The girls work hard cheering for their teams and trying to spread school spirit," said Wakeling. "It would be great if the school and community could come out and support them."
