Hudson -- Blossom Music Center is showing its appreciation to neighboring communities by offering discounted concerts.

"This season we're having community appreciation nights at Blossom," said Jan Leshner, member of the Board of Overseers of Blossom Music Center.

Hudson residents will be able to purchase tickets at a 20 percent discount for the Aug. 4 Cleveland Orchestra concert, "The Planets" at Blossom Music Center on Steels Corners Road in Cuyahoga Falls.

The concert will be directed by Bramwell Tovey and feature Mark Kosower on cello and the Women of the Blossom Festival Chorus. The music includes "The Spitfire: Prelude and Fugue" by Walton; "Cello Concerto" by Barber and "The Planets" by Holst.

"Discount tickets will be available for Hudson residents along with some welcoming perks when they arrive at Blossom," Leshner said.

The Cleveland Orchestra concert begins at 7 p.m. but gates open at 4:30 p.m. Guests can bring a picnic supper and dine on the lawn or at numerous picnic tables, Leshner said.

"People don't realize we have the finest outdoor facility in the world at our backyard," Leshner said.

The 20 percent discount for the tickets can be obtained using the code "15761" online at clevelandorchestra.com, by phone 216-231-1111 or 800-686-1141 or at the Blossom ticket office Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. and from 1 through intermission on the day of the performance.

Children 18 and under are free with an adult ticket. Shuttle transportation is available between the parking lots and lawns. If a lawn ticket is purchased and it rains, there is ample room in the back corners of the pavilion for seating, Leshner said.
