Head hostesses for the upcoming Hudson Garden Club's Home and Garden tour met recently to discuss details of this year's event, to take place Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14. For the first time this year, the tour will offer extended evening hours on Thursday. Visitors will be able to tour properties until 8 p.m. that day. The event begins at 10 a.m. both days and ends at 5 p.m. Friday.
This year's tour will feature six homes - three with gardens - including two century homes with unique period details, antiques and collectibles, and four contemporary properties that reflect the individual tastes and interests of each owner. All of the homes will showcase custom flower arrangements created by Garden Club members. Three additional gardens will be open for visitors and include water features, flowering trees and shrubs, customized hardscapes, extensive perennial gardens and other points of inspiration for gardening enthusiasts. One of the gardens recently was featured in Fine Gardening magazine. From noon to 5 p.m., ticket holders can visit the show's Garden Shop, offering a variety of annuals, perennials and gardening items. From 2- 5 p.m., ticket holders can enjoy complimentary beverages and cookies at the adjacent Tea Shop. The Hudson Society of Artists, celebrating its 25th anniversary, will sponsor its Clothesline Art Show at the Garden Shop. Proceeds from the tour fund tree planting in Hudson, the Garden Club's annual scholarships, and other grants and community gardening projects.
