He's one of the best swimmers in the country.

And the best part about it is this: He's only 16.

Hudson sophomore Ross Palazzo concluded the 2012-13 season in storybook fashion with two state titles at the Division I state meet, which concluded Feb. 23 at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.

Palazzo triumphed in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breaststroke. Palazzo posted a winning time of 1 minute, 48.49 seconds in the 200 IM. His time in the 100 breaststroke was 55 seconds.

Palazzo is Hudson's second state champion in as many years. Teammate Alex Obendorf won the state diving title last year as a sophomore.

Palazzo guided Hudson to a sixth-place finish at the state meet. The Hudson girls also finished sixth. Palazzo's run at state titles doesn't expect to end anytime soon. Hudson head coach Matt Davis believes his star pupil can get even better. "He's really growing as a person," he said. "He knows how to take direction from somebody else. He still wants to learn."
