Financial planner appointed to Hudson City Council

Hudson - Council members Jan. 8 voted 4-0 to appoint Keith Smith to replace John Jeffers to represent Ward 4 on City Council.

Smith lives on Olde Farm Lane and is a managing partner at The Western Reserve Group at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, according to his application. He is a Certified Financial Planner.

Jeffers resigned in December.

At-large Council member Dan Williams abstained from the vote because he was not present Jan. 7 to interview the four candidates who had applied for the vacant Council seat. Ward 3 Councilman Alex Kelemen was absent.

The other candidates included Ryan Beam, Rafael McLaughlin and Dean Rolland.

"It was a difficult decisions," said Council President David Basil. "We had four excellent candidates."

Smith will be publicly sworn in at the Jan. 16 Council meeting.
